Dee Dee and the Bel Airs - Raw, Wild, Rock ’n’ Roll...

When Dee Dee and the Bel Airs first burst onto the scene back in 1988, they didn’t knock on doors... they kicked in doors. Armed with a hard-edged, no-apologies neo-rockabilly sound, they went from underground secret to a must-see band in no time at all.

Their debut album "Rockabilly Boogie Tonight" hit like a shot of high-proof whiskey. Festivals across Europe and the UK came calling, and soon the band was sharing stages with - and often accompanied - true rock ’n’ roll royalty: Bill Haley’s original Comets, Carl Perkins, Gene Vincent’s Blue Caps, Tommy Sands, Frankie Ford, Buddy Knox, Janis Martin, Wanda Jackson, Brenda Lee. Just to name a few !

By the mid-’90s, the sound got deeper and a little bit more sophisticated. With the vocal powerhouse group Harmony Five joining the ride, razor-sharp harmonies, doo-wop swagger and jive attitude crashed head-on into the Bel Airs’ engine. The result: "Radio Days" - a bold concept album and a full-blown love affair with the golden age of radio. Live Radio DJ, Jingles, pure nostalgia...  and yes - the band performed all bits and pieces of the radio show on CD LIVE on stage as well !

Then came the new millennium - and another reinvention. Fueled by the rising neo-swing movement, Dee Dee and the Bel Airs turned the heat up even further. "Night Out in Bel Air" virtually exploded onto the international scene. Tracks like Scat the Swing, California Moon and a blistering take on Elvis’
Viva Las Vegas went straight to the top of global MP3 charts and download lists.

Never a band to stand still, the mid-2000s saw the Bel Airs diving back into storytelling with "One Step Back". The plot: trapped by a mad scientist, hurled into a time tunnel, stranded in the late ’40s - surviving decade after decade by playing the hottest hits of the ’40s, ’50s and ’60s. Time travel never sounded this good.

Today, Dee Dee and the Bel Airs are mainly focussed on the jump blues of the late 1940s and early 1950s. No polish. no safety net. Just sweat, swing and raw energy. When they hit the stage, sparks fly, hips move and the dance floor shakes, and the audience knows instantly: ...this is pure joy of life.

After a time on the road, the band returned to the studio with one mission only: to capture the energy of their live shows - no tricks, no overdubs, no mercy. "Moonshine Recording Session – Live at the Highline Studios – Part One" was recorded 100% live, the old-school way. Takes rolled until every groove hit hard. Untamed. Loud. Real.

For that authentic vintage bite, Christian Krüger of Moonshine Recording Studios rolled in original 1950s recording gear to the Highline Studio. At the controls: Frenzy Erl, blending classic engineering with modern hightech power.

The result? Electric. Dangerous. Addictive. Dee Dee and the Bel Airs don’t just play rock ’n’ roll. They live it - and they drag you right into their time travel experience.
